BFFL Report: Desperation Edition

You’d think with another week in the books that we would have more closure for the playoff picture. We were naive to think this. Don’t worry, it’s ok if you fell for it, I did too.  I figured by the end of last week, we’d have 5 spots figured out, and watch 2 or 3 teams fight for the final spot, like the Joker made those henchmen do so in The Dark Knight.  Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me… fool me three times, how did we not see it coming?  One thing happened for sure, and congratulations to Pleuss, as his team would slip through the cracks and sneak into at least the 4th seed, possibly 3rd.  He joins the elite status that only owners, Durkee, Andy, and Andy can call home.

The five way tie at 5th proves that my rule of sixes does not have to happen. The scenario in front of us shows that a five win team can make it in, although the chances are slim.  I know our commish just went through this last week, but we still have more storylines than a WWE show, so we’re going to go through the potential 5th and 6th ticket winners quickly.

Keps Mob Squad (5-7) Current status: 5th Seed

How they stays in:

This one’s easier said than done, but all Pete has to do is win.  The match up however for The Squad is less than favorable as he goes up against the first place team Wackers in our final week.

If they lose?

The 5-8 mark isn’t the death of the Squad if he does lose.  The Squad can still sneak into the 6th seed The Seal Clubbers and Turducken Clan take the loss. Both MUST lose though because one of the 5-7 teams in the MLSP/Cane’s match up will be ending up 6-7, so only room for one 5-8.

The Seal Clubbers (5-7) Current status: 6th Seed

How they stay in:

Again, win and in.  The only way Peeters could lose his stronghold is if the winner of the MLSP/Canes matchup scores around 190 points.  5th seed is also still up for grabs, if Koeppen loses, or if they surpass Pete in overall points which again, is highly unlikely. The 110 point stomping Jesse put on last week was huge for tiebreaker purposes as well, as it helped the Clubbers surpass Hurricane Ditka by a solid 38 points, (977.8) which he was previously under the Canes.

If they lose?

Pretty much the same scenario as Pete, if Jesse loses he needs to start praying to the BFFL gods that both the Clan and the Squad lose, because unfortunately both the Canes and MLSP can’t lose.

Hurricane Ditka (5-7) Current status: OUT

How they get in:

Like I stated above, thanks to the mud stomping that Jesse put on Pete in week 12 the overall points took a shift into the Clubbers favor, thus pushing the ‘Canes down to 7th and currently out of the playoffs. So, how do they get in? I wish it was as easy as a win and in, but it isn’t anymore.  A win must happen but also either The Clubbers or the Mob Squad need to take a fall.  There is a chance that the Canes could re-take the overall points back from Jesse but it’s currently a 38 point deficit.

If they lose?

Out with a window the size of a sheet of paper to climb back in.  If I lose, MLSP would go 6-7 putting him ahead of me.  Now, both Clubbers and Squad would need to lose after that, PLUS I would need to overtake Jesse in overall points, which again is about 38, before Jesses points even go on the board.

MLSP (5-7) Current status: OUT

How they get in:

Much like the Canes, a win just wont suffice. The Pets will need to call for help from either Durkee or PI to beat either The Clubbers or The Squad.  If that happens, then a playoff spot is there.

If the lose?

Out.  Unless the team can build up a 80 point day and that’s to say Jesse only puts up 1 point… it ain’t happening.

Turducken Clan (5-7) Current status: OUT

How they get in:

Is a wing and a prayer an option? Kidding, The Clan is very much alive yet.  The Clan obviously needs a win, that’s the first step.  After that outside help is definitely required as the Clubbers and the Squad need to lose.  About 58 points behind Hurricane Ditka and only about 16 from MLSP, the perfect scenario would be a Canes loss to top it all off, but right now the Clan should just focus on winning.

If they lose?

Out. If you thought MLSP’s chances of making it in on a loss were slim, double goes to the Clan.

To the Wackers, Warriors, Steelers, and PI, I’m sorry your names were rarely called in this weeks desperation edition, but you four got something better than name drops… you have stress free Sundays. You have little to worry about going into the final week as the five mentioned about will be biting out nails, pulling out graying hair, and staring at TV screens for twelve plus hours.  As for Bryan… sorry man, good luck getting that number one pick, I heard Randy Moss might be available.

GOTW: Sounds weird but, Keps Mob Squad vs. God’s Tallywacker.  Pete has one of the largest mountains to climb even though he’s currently in the 5th seed… for he has to play the number one team in the league.  If he wins, he’s the hero that showed us the one seed is mortal.  If he goes down, all hell could break lose beneath him.

Upset of the week: None. Things appear to be pretty tightly sealed this week. As for us 5-7 guys, this isn’t a good thing. Not going to say it, but keep an eye on the Mob Squad.

Just happy that Durkee took down Andy C. to give me a bye next week. Hard to think that this is the first year of the “official” BFFL’s existence that I have made the playoffs. Sickening, in fact. Should be a fun week definitely…

  • Yes indeed, ill be chilling stress free first week of the playoffs with you Andyman!
